I spent the last year at maintenance calories and tried a cut back in October and saw very little changes. Just wondering what is the best way to tackle a cut now that I’m in my mid 40’s? On this episode we have one of the leading experts on hormones and peptides, Dr. Rand McClain!Peptides are emerging into the health and fitness space as one of the most beneficial and impactful supplements on the market, because they have been shown to produce unbelievable results with minimal (if any) side effects at all. This is primarily because our body already makes these amino acids. But because they are so versatile, scientists can create any combination of them to formulate peptides for whatever desired effect they want. Again, making them extremely beneficial AND in demand.Which is why we brought Dr. Rand McClain on the show! To give us a “Peptides 101” master class, while helping us also understand how they are connected and interrelated to hormones in the body.So join us and learn what peptides are, how they work in the body, how they work, the connection to hormones they have, and the results they can produce for everything from body composition to health to longevity. And make sure you order Dr. Rand McClains new book, “Cheating Death: The New Science Of Living Longer and Better”. I’m even weighing everything perfectly, yet am gaining weight or staying the same week to week. What could cause this to happen? Inflammation from higher training volume? Or am I just not in a big enough deficit?(21:20) - How would someone go about transitioning from a 5-day strength program (performance bodybuilding type) to a 4 day split. Would you make your workouts longer? More intense? Prioritize hypertrophy over strength? Basically how do I decrease volume/intensity without going ‘backwards’? I have always been a hybrid ‘athlete’, doing cardio multiple times a week on top of that. I am now training for a marathon and need to add in more runs into my weekly routine. I want to prioritize keeping as much muscle as possible, as well as possibly getting stronger.(30:00) - With Lent coming up that means no meat on Fridays and days of fasting. In those situations, what is the impact of one day a week not hitting our protein needs for the day AND being in a significant deficit? Will one day significantly hinder any progress or just get right back on it the next day and not worry about it.—-Social Links:Blog – http://www.tailoredcoachingmethod.com/blogFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/tailoredcoachingmethodInstagram -https://www.instagram.com/codymcbroomYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/codymcbroom1Email – info@tailoredcoachingmethod.comCody McBroom Has Also Been Featured On: Huffington Post, Bodybuilding.com, The PTDC,Dr. John Rusin, Muscle For Life, Barbell Shrugged, Strong By Design, OPEX Fitness andMore…

Being the middle of winter here in Minnesota my options are mainly indoors. My hernia makes it difficult to do any form of running/jogging or anytime of split leg movement. However doing jumping jacks, jump rope, jump squats are not issue. What are some recommended effective indoor at home cardio types you would recommend? I have a treadmill but not a bike. Thanks in advance for taking my question and for all you do for myself and others.(12:55) - What are your thoughts on doing bodyweight or light weight circuit style workouts on rest days? Would that impinge on recovery? Say, working out hard for 5 days a week and taking 2 days for light circuit style training?(18:55) - I’ve recently added 30 min of cardio to my lifting routine because I’m 7 weeks out of a competition. Trying to maximize my time so I’m sometimes training in the morning from 5am to 7:00 doing my heavy lifts and cardio and going again after work to finish (triceps on a shoulder day or band work like glute kickback burnouts and abductor work on glute ham days for example). Is this a good plan or should I just use that time to recover- I train hard in the 10-15 rep range to close failure and drop sets and myo sets. I hate doing cardio at night because I prefer doing it with caffeine in my system. I'm adding the band work to focus on upper glutes as much as possible.—-Social Links:Blog – http://www.tailoredcoachingmethod.com/blogFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/tailoredcoachingmethodInstagram -https://www.instagram.com/codymcbroomYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/codymcbroom1Email – info@tailoredcoachingmethod.comCody McBroom Has Also Been Featured On: Huffington Post, Bodybuilding.com, The PTDC,Dr. John Rusin, Muscle For Life, Barbell Shrugged, Strong By Design, OPEX Fitness andMore…

Research seems to show they are VERY effective for a shorter period of time than straight sets, so why are we not all doing drop sets all the time?(15:00) - I have been lifting consistently for about a year and a half. In the fall, I started hiring a personal trainer to write 8-week programs for me. The most recent one she wrote put the days in the following order: push, legs, pull, legs, glutes/shoulders. I always hear you are not supposed to work the same muscle group two days in a row. On this program, the last two days both include multiple glute exercises (for example- hip thrusts and glute-focused leg press on one day…kickbacks and glute emphasized back extensions on the next). Am I overthinking the fact that these exercises are one day apart? Or is this a sign that my trainer may not know what she’s doing?(24:40) - Question about clients coming from Optavi, which is a very restrictive fad diet. Like 800-1000 cals and they recommend no exercise. Just awful. Anyway, I have a lot of women coming to me off of that program. Many of them have lost a good chunk of weight and many have gained weight back but they all have weight they still need to lose. I’m not sure if they can safely continue in a deficit. They have body fat to lose but on the flip side they have spent many months on this very low calorie program. Which direction would you think is best for these individuals?—-Social Links:Blog – http://www.tailoredcoachingmethod.com/blogFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/tailoredcoachingmethodInstagram -https://www.instagram.com/codymcbroomYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/codymcbroom1Email – info@tailoredcoachingmethod.comCody McBroom Has Also Been Featured On: Huffington Post, Bodybuilding.com, The PTDC,Dr. John Rusin, Muscle For Life, Barbell Shrugged, Strong By Design, OPEX Fitness andMore…

This podcast covers everything you need to know about "Weight Loss Drugs". Prescription weight loss drugs have been around for almost 100 years, believe it or not. But they have regrown in popularity once again and because there are new emerging prescription drugs being given to obese patients by doctors, it's an important topic for us to cover on the show! So I brought our Chief Science Officer, Dr. Brandon Roberts, back on the show to cover the topic in massive detail -- specifically breaking down the different weight loss drugs out there, what they actually do (ie - how they work), and the potential risks of taking them.If you'd like to read the article we have on the topic as well, visit the blog at www.tailoredcoachingmethod.com/weight-loss-drugsIf you love this podcast, please do us a favor and share this episode with anyone you think would like it or benefit from it.
