It’s Cody Land, the bare knuckle boxer’s wife:) I’m working on the Physique and Bodybuilding cert from NASM that you recommended and have decided to compete in my first bikini competition in Oct of 2023 at 36 years old so I can really dig in and apply what I’m learning. I’m still digging into the course material so wanted to reach out for help to get ahead. Right now I’m focused on building muscle before it’s time to start cutting. For context, here’s where I’m at currently. I’ve been on a dedicated lifting routine for a couple years (and for years before that before having a baby). My newbie gains seem to have worn off so I started putting myself through my first bulk last Oct. I weigh 140 and I’m 5’5. I’m eating around 2300 calories a day and focusing on keeping protein around 30%. My weight is up 5 lbs and I’m feeling strong and progressing in the gym each week. How would you suggest I periodize as I move from this bulking phase and eventually into my cutting phase? I planned to cut for 12-16 weeks, so I wouldn’t start until June at the earliest. Should I plan for a maintenance phase? Want to be sure I squeeze as much as I can out of this muscle building phase and don’t want to over do my time in a deficit later on. It so, what were the details (duration, nutritional guidelines and protocol, progress) I feel this would be reaching the “apex” of “dieting expertise” as it would be more on the intuitive eating, building sustainable habits and trusting the process.(34:20) - Would you program different training session durations for clients over 40 or 50 years old?(39:50) - What are some of your most effective methods for fat loss in your clients?(42:30) - I am torn between wanting to build muscle and losing more fat. My last inbody scan showed I have 35.5% body fat, 58.0 skeletal muscle mass, and weight is 159.9. My height is 5’5 and I am 32 years old. I put myself into 2 deficits this year already and am now staying at maintenance through the holidays. Would you recommend I go back into a deficit next year or stay at maintenance? Not looking into going into a bulk due to already being uncomfortable with my body fat. I've done mostly powerlifting training but am on week 5 of your bulletproof bodybuilding now and with the first couple weeks I definitely struggled with that type of shift in training. I have nothing but gratitude for you guys. If anyone is on the fence about coaching, I encourage them to dive in and go for it, learn to invest in yourself. It's the best thing you can do.(24:30) - Hi! I am a mom to a 14 month old, busy physical therapist and business owner. Getting back in shape (5’7’’, 140ish lbs for reference… pre-child felt great at 135lb). Just minimal extra around belly, overall feeling good. I just would love slightly less body fat and more muscle I can only get to the gym 1-3x/week depending on work and life. What to focus on? Diet is main priority but I’d love guidance for workouts to improve body comp.(35:00) - Trying to set my calories for a bulk. Was in a cut around 2500 calories and have reversed to around 2900 calories. I weigh around 207 and have been eating 215 grams of protein, 310 grams of carbs and 90 grams of fat.
